David Moyes favourite to be next Man Utd manager

DAVID MOYES is the red-hot favourite to be named as the successor to Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson this morning announced his plans to retire from his post after 27 years at Manchester United.

Moyes, 50, is out of contract at Everton in the summer and is the No1 candidate to become the new United boss.

The Scot has not won a trophy during 11 years in charge of the Toffees but has brought stability to a club despite a relatively small budget.

Jose Mourinho is the bookies’ second favourite behind Moyes, although he is close to sealing a return to Chelsea.

But it looks as though Scottish manager Moyes could be the man for the United hotseat.

Everton earlier denied they had received an official approach from the Red Devils for Moyes.
