Carlo Ancelotti approach by Real Madrid snubbed by PSG

PSG have turned down an approach by Real Madrid for boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Chelsea manager, who last night guided PSG to their first League title in 19 years, had been lined up to replace Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.

But club president Nasser al Khelaifi has today told Madrid to keep their hands off his man.

He said: “Real came and I discussed it with them. He’s got a contract with us for one more year.

“For me, he’s here next year.

“He’s a fantastic guy and I’m sure he’ll respect his contract.”

PSG’s defiance could put a dent in Chelsea’s hopes of landing Mourinho as boss for next year.

Mourinho is involved in a stand-off with Real chiefs over a £17million compensation clause in his contract.

Whoever breaks the deal is thought to be liable to the bumper payout.

The Portuguese boss was hoping to use Ancelotti’s arrival to help smooth his exit out of Spain.

But if Real fail to land their man the stalemate could drag on and Chelsea may be forced to look elsewhere.
