Euro 2020 coming to a city near you... and you... and you

THE 2020 European Championship will be held in a number of cities across the continent.

There will be no one country hosting the tournament and matches will instead be shared by different European cities.

The FA have already put forward Wembley as a possible venue for the final.

And Wales, Scotland and Ireland have also expressed their interest in hosting matches.

UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino said: “Some important decisions have been taken.

“UEFA Euro 2020 will be staged across the continent, in various major cities, following a decision taken today.

“A Euro for Europe follows an initial idea by UEFA president Michel Platini.

“The response has been extremely positive from all the national associations.”

The exact format and number of cities involved is yet to be decided.

The bidding process will start next March with an announcement in spring 2014.
